Talk:Grace Speaker
Any previous Palace contract to Clancy's of Long Hogmeat for dogfood would presumably have ended with the death of Wuffles.
The thought occurs that with Vetinari having a new dog with special dietary requirements, co-inciding with a perceived need to keep an eye on the motivations and loyalties of ms. Speaker, a man as elegantly economical as the Patrician might combine both objectives by asking Grace to tender for the petfood contract. That way she can be discreetly and inobtrusively observed by the Palace, as well as proving her goodwill to Vetinari as a dutiful citizen, by providing only the very best offal and sticky toffee puddings for the new dog...--AgProv 09:27, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh, very much so, which is why it's on the Talk page. But so much circumstancial evidence points this way...--AgProv 23:37, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Hmm. People of Norwegian ancestry who prefer to use English. Roald Dahl. If Nothingfjord also covers a Discworld take on "Scandiwegia", ie, the broader Nordic world, we also have broadcaster, writer and intellectual Magnus Magnusson (Icelandic) who made his career in Britain. --AgProv 18:16, 28 October 2011 (CEST)
- There's a blast from the past! I wonder if people in range of West Yorkshire Television noticed that Magnusson's old associate, Dr. Rob Buckman died over here two weeks ago. --Old Dickens 21:47, 28 October 2011 (CEST)
- Oops! Years later, I realise that was Magnus Pike. As you were. --Old Dickens (talk) 01:25, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Grace replaced
Or is it not so much that Vetinari can't stand being defeated by "Puzzler" as that he realises that she's sometimes smarter than he is, and such a person had better be employed among the Clerks? --Old Dickens (talk) 02:14, 4 January 2014 (GMT)
