The Big One - editing consensus required, or just go ahead?
How soon is how soon? I ask because one Wiki user has already amended a major character page to add an Event in this book which has so far not been spoilered here. I'm nit denying it will have to be done, but I sensed a Rule of Cautious Wiki Editing should apply for perhaps a month after first publication in Britain - it isn't even in Canada yet... - I've always said that if you don't want spoilers, don't read. (It used to be in the site notice; I wish I could find the old one.) Anyway, we didn't have a rule before and it seems there won't be any new books after this. --Old Dickens (talk) 14:27, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
I know. And I've never really bothered too much before. But this spoiler is unique, if only because it'll be the last one. I know it's out there in reviews and synopses of the book, and it isn't exactly secret. Ffor all I know the information is even freely available in Canada? It's just... big. Terry Pratchett going out on a big note and taking one of his most loved characters out with him, for a companion on the walk across the Desert. I thought, as one of the first people to get and read the book, it needed a certain sensitive handling, at least for a while. Let everyone else catch up. Ah well.AgProv (talk) 21:07, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- And you're right, of course, but retroactive rules are always a problem. The contributor in question hasn't been known for restraint. If you'd like to edit the spoilage judiciously I'd be in support. --Old Dickens (talk) 22:46, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
