hmm. This telling detail is on the cover. The cover also says "written by Sir Jack Dodger". In a roundabout sort of way, are we being told something here that the publishers do not want to say explicitly? Online comment on this book seriously doubts that any part of it after the preface was written by Terry Pratchett; informed rumour says these are social observations made by the historical Henry Mayhew in his accounts of Victorian London. As the original Mayhew books are out of copyright and largely obscure (despite their use in Dodger), it is whispered that his observations have been edited, cherry-picked, slightly re-written and given a Pratchettian gloss. The names Rob Williams and Bernard Pearson have been whispered as the ghost-writers. Touch this one carefully, or else only buy if you're a completionist? AgProv (talk) 18:08, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

This seems to be a popular opinion. For nine quid, maybe I'll order one along with Crumbling Castle. There have been a lot of these periphera lately.
