That which the Nomes of the Store resolutely refuse to believe exists. This persists even after Masklin leads his party of Nomes into the store from the mythical Outside.

"Outside" covers everything on the other side of the loading bay, despite the fact that trucks are seen to go and return from there. It takes an intrepid Nome, in fact the Nome race's nearest thing to an astronaut, to hitch a ride in a truck and prove everyone wrong...
