Talk:Dire yak
Are these similar to the tharga, with a less complicated nervous system? Compare and contrast. --Old Dickens (talk) 04:34, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps, but I see it more as a riff on the Dungeons & Dragons trope of "dire" animals: bigger and nastier versions of regular creatures, which get their adjective from the real-world dire wolf. Such creatures, no matter how small, are at least predators of some kind (there are dire weasels, for instance), so a dire yak is a bit of a stretch. Not enough description of thargas to know whether they resemble yaks; they always reminded me more of highland cows? -- Guybrush (talk) 03:11, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
