Checking it out, now you draw my attention to it: my Geiriadur cymraeg-saesneg has the following possibilities:
rhampio is a verb, meaning "to romp", ie to travel joyously. Fits a sailor - all that lively hornpiping? Rham is also a component of words meaning "romantic" or "romance". Rhampen/Rhampennod is a word that could in one sense be translated as "tomboy", ie one whose gender lines blur at the edges (sailors again?
