Grades of wizardry in Roundworld Magick:-
- 1:- The Outer Order
- Neophyte, 0=0;
- Zelator, 1=10;
- Theoricus, 2=9;
- Practicus, 3=8;
- Philosophus, 4=7
- The Portal
There are three grades above the Portal which belong to the Inner Order.
- The Abyss
The two highest grades are beyond the Abyss and the highest is
- Ipsissimus - a grade senior Wizards on the Discworld have oft ascribed to themselves...
The sign by which the Zelator, the foot-soldier of wizardry, will announce himself so that others may recognise him is with the straight-armed Roman salute, the right arm raised into the air at a 45 degree angle with the open palm out. (Ie, the fascist salute of Mussolini and Hitler)
Funny what you discover when you're really researching for a Good Omens fanfic set in the 1930's...
