Whatever the source, treacle is mined from various locations around the Sto Plains and Uberwald, and in some cases even flows from wells. Treacle Mine Road in Morpork recalls the days when it led to a treacle mine which was an important resource of the city. The mine has long since been abandoned due to pressures of real estate value and cheaper sources in Quirm and elsewhere.
