On Nation they nest near the Cave of the Grandfathers. Daphne has a book in which they are illustrated, and are called in English, Pantaloon Birds. They are large and clumsy, quite happy to scavenge, and to follow prospective meals around in case they die. They eat everything whole, and regurgitate what doesn't fit, and will do this anyway if panicked. It seems highly likely that they are a species of hornbill.
They drink the beer left daily outside the cave as an offering for the Grandfathers. There is a theological explanation for how this works to satisfy Grandfathers. They love beer.
