I think I read somewhere that 'underneath the arches' was were Roman seamstresses did their sewing and hence fornication. Presumably old Latatian seamstresses did the same thing in the same place.
- That seems to be the connection. Other definitions of fornix are also tangled. One might have considered something about putting buns in the oven (fornax), but no... --Old Dickens 22:55, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
