It may be a subconscious tie-in to Granny Weatherwax's one joke that she struggles to deliver corectly throughout Wyrd Sisters? Maybe alligators, with their association of Cajun and voodoo practice (ref Mrs Gogol in Wyrd Sisters) are more intrinsically a magical beast - note that mere crocodiles appear, as a more mundane peril, in Sourcery and Pyramids, with nothing remotely magical about them. --AgProv 09:49, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
