These sound unique to the Discworld to me. They're dams... built to trap light. Isn't this a Device and not a Thing? TC01 16:20, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Dunno. Can a device be something that big? Is - for example - the Herschel Telescope or the CERN Large Hadron Collider a Device or a Thing? I somehow imagine a device to be handheld - or at least smallish. A tent - device or thing? --Knmatt 16:33, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

They're obvious Devices. "These are examples of the creations of the Cunning Artificers, Alchemists and others which show unique or differently adapted technology on the Discworld or practical uses of magic."
