Burns
Captain Burns appears in Night Watch, as the quietly competent cavalry captain who with a completely straight face, assures Samuel Vimes that anyone singing the national anthem and waving the flag doesn't class as a rebel, despite the fact they've built what looks like a barricade but is probably just people's furniture, moved out into the street to facilitate spring cleaning, as can be expected in the month of May. He then salutes Vimes - the salute is returned with equal respect - and departs. Although he reports to Major Clive Mountjoy-Standfast, his commanding officer, that this Keel person is more than just a Watch sergeant - he's used to serious command.
