The seventieth anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street is coming up, I believe. I wonder if a Roundworld reference should be made here to that battle? Would it be relevant? I leave it to better minds than mine to make the decision (^_^) --Neddy 03:35, 2 October 2006 (CEST)
- More to do with Glorious Revolution or Republic, or as an annotation to NW, but a very useful point,
- I'd say. --Old Dickens 16:06, 2 October 2006 (CEST)
Baker Street Irregulars
I've heard or seen rumours that the Name also is a slight pun on this group of street urchins helping Sherlock Holmes, can anybody confirm this rumour? --92.50.94.35 20:39, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- It's certainly been a rumor for some time. I've asked before what the connection was between the street children working for the good guys and the evil secret police. It seems to be that they both contain "Street". --Old Dickens 23:03, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
- And here it is again... --Old Dickens 21:31, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well the entire shape of the phrase, 'DA-da STREET dar-DA-u-lars is really too close I think not to be deliberate allusion- especially since 'particulars' is really kind of odd here, unless it was chosen because it sounded like something else. It's not necessary that what they 'describe' be the same- and I would point out that the CSP first appeared as good guys in Maskerade well before their evil Winder-era predecessors were created. To "see everything and overhear everyone." pretty well describes Andre's assignment. Solicitr 22:27, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
