Now, the question of demarcation must be a bugger (sorry) for Pepe. His honorary Dwarf status shouldn't exempt him from Guild affiliation (see Cheery Littlebottom) but he doesn't obviously belong to the Artificers or the Alchemists or any other. Perhaps fashion design is the last frontier in A-M? --Old Dickens 00:06, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Nor indeed the Armourers, given what micromail is used for!
On re-reading Unseen Academicals, the more I am visualising Pepe as speaking with a Scouse accent. There's something about the rhythm of the lines he gets to speak, rather than any slang content. "Scouse" also fits the image he presents, of an "informal entrepreneur" living on his wits and ducking and diving on the edge of legality. I could almost be listening to Liverpool-born camp comic Paul O'Grady, a man who made his career in drag in his alter-ego, as battling acid-tongued Scouse scrubber Lily Savage. O'Grady is also a man who was arrested several times for his direct and robust attitude to gay-bashers: he recalls, with satisfaction, bouncing one would-be gaybasher's head up and down on the bonnet of a car until his attacker was unconscious and the car would never be the same again. O'Grady now presents a regular Sunday afternoon music-and-talk show on BBC Radio Two: tune in and listen. --AgProv 19:31, 12 May 2011 (CEST)
Re-reading Unseen Academicals as well and came to a point that makes me wonder if Pepe is really happy in his relationship. There's a scene in the night before the big game when Trev etc come to Shatta and Glenda innocently remarks that Pepe's been putting the willies up Trev. Pepe's response? He protests that he hasn't and adds that he hardly puts up the willies anyone these days. Read a bit longingly to me.--LilMaibe 23:25, 11 August 2011 (CEST)
