I'm not sure if this should be an annotation or not but roundworld equivelents of ...Herbs may include such items as St Johns Wort and Wormwood --Megahurts 12:44, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
My suspicion is that "herbs" in a Granny Weatherwax context might be those to which a goodly cachet of myth and folklore attaches on Roundworld. For instance, take
- mandrake, mandragora: said to emit a scream in the high untrasonic if uprooted. This is a myth on Roundworld - but we know it to be truth on Discworld. (ss here.
- belladonna consciousness-alterer: in cocktail with atropine, thought to be at the heart of the "witches can fly!" cultural myth.
- atropine - neuroagent
- datura root - possibly more a voodoo thing, but a potent consciousness-alterer
- hemlock - in very small doses, a heart stimulant
Of course ...herbs is also RW slang for Canabis, which - leaving political discussion aside - is also known to help relieve pain in MS sufferers. --Megahurts 08:31, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
