Spike

The word "spike" generally denotes something that gets right to the point in a very unmistakable way. On the Discworld two notable Spikes are:

1. The favourite horse of the somewhat irritable Lancre warrior-queen Ynci. Believed to have been of the now-extinct Lancre Hill Breed, said to have the temperament of a powder-keg on a very short fuse;
2. Moist von Lipwig's private nickname for Adora Belle Dearheart, who in many respects has a lot in common with the Lancre pony, and adds a very human inability to take fools gladly.
