A member of UU staff worthy of relaxing with the top Faculty staff in the Uncommon Room after the tradition of the Hunting of the Megapode near the beginning of the events of Unseen Academicals.
"Egregious" meaning "conspicuously bad or offensive". So not necessarily good at actual grammar, then. Would use, in cold blood, a phrase such as "She was not she", which would cause the Professor of Logic to spit out his drink.
In the oldest British universities, there are Regius Chairs of various arcane intellectual disciplines - "Regius" meaning appointed or sponsored by royalty. Stephen Hawking is a Regius Professor of Physics at Cambridge, in a Chair previously occupied by Sir Isaac Newton. Unseen University has its Egregious Professorates...
