Pierce has a nervous breakdown as a result of his part in a Korean mother's smothering her baby to prevent its attracting enemy attention to a busload of people. The coincidence, as I make notes on {{SN}}, was quite startling. The dreadful algebra isn't confined to marginal cultures like the goblins, or ancient history. most interesting. Playing in the background here is a TV station showing re-runs of an archaeological dig where the bones of babies and infants have been discovered in a mutilated state. Speculation is that in a famine following a major earthquake, volcanic eruption and climate change, in this corner of the classical middle east, a remnant of a formerly highly civilized people survived by sinking into primitivism for a couple of hundred years. This involved, yes, selective cannibalism and eating their own young... so it isn't just you, and i do see the logic of your words.<br />
