"Lobsang" as a name is a sort of generic first name for Tibetans. Look up "Cyril Hoskins" on Wikipedia[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyril_Hoskins] and I think you will see why Tery chose to use the name for Hublandish monks! I'm presuming the 'Ludd' part is a reference to [[Wikipedia:Ned Ludd|Ned Ludd]] who founded the Luddites? Is Terry drawing parallels with the Luddites and the Thieves Guild?
